DYE SUBLIMATION
How does dye sublimation work? After you have chosen your design, a sublimation printer prints it out onto special paper. The design is then printed onto the fabric, by using a heat press.
Vibrant coloured clothing, coffee mugs, stubby holders, mouse mats and many more items can be decorated using dye sublimation. Here is a quick run down on how the dye sublimation process works.

How does dye sublimation work? After you have chosen your design, a sublimation printer prints it out onto special paper. The design is then printed onto the fabric, by using a heat press.
A combination of heat and pressure turns the inks into a gas as well as opening up the pores of the fabric. As the gas cools down, it combines with the fabric colouring it in the same colours as the design. The ink is “dyed” into the fabric, not laid on it like screen printing or transfers.
The best materials to use for sublimation printing polyester For fabric, you can use a variety of designs and logos, unlike traditional printing that could sometimes only produce one logo per garment.100% cotton materials or other natural materials are not suitable for this method of printing. This is because they don’t have the pores that are required in order for the ink to be absorbed into it.
At Thread Effects, we can help you design and then supply dye sublimated garments and products.
